Testimonials

"I have had the privilege of having Kate Bostrom as my riding instructor for 6 months. Kate Bostrom is an excellent riding instructor, horse trainer and therapist! She is knowledgeable, compassionate, witty, flexible, patient, and innovative in her lessons. Her teaching style is very hands on, and she pays close attention to both rider and horse and adjusts lessons as needed. Her lesson plan puts strong emphasis on fundamentals; horsemanship, communication between horse and rider, balance, core strength, consistency and safety. Her background, skill-set and personality makes her a gem and you would be hard pressed finding a better trainer!"

"I have been riding for about 8 years and 6 of those years have been with Kate. I have learned so much. Before meeting her I didn't have any knowledge of classical dressage or how to ride with the horse instead of using force. Kate is the only trainer I have encountered that truly cares about and listens to horses. Throughout my years with her I have watched her horses change both physically and mentally -- confused, injured and rescued horse with rough pasts became athletes that would truly do anything for her. I have also taken lessons with Kate's daughter, Jenny, and I look forward to learning more from her.  Her corrections are explained clearly and help me make good changes in my ride that work. I would strongly recommend taking lessons or putting horses in training with Kate and Jenny for dressage, hunter/jumper, or just to re-balance and strengthen both horse and rider."

"My daughter Annie started working with Kate approximately two months ago.  She was anxious to start horseback riding after finishing several years of vision therapy and occupational therapy. I was amazed to find that lessons with Kate involved so many facets that we had targeted in our therapies. Kate has focused on teaching Annie what a happy, healthy horse should look and feel like and how to pay attention to the horse's communication.  Annie has found that this requires an intense level of concentration and awareness on her part. To my amazement, Annie is thrilled to try her hardest and continues to put forth her best effort during her lessons. In addition, Kate is teaching Annie how important it is to be aware of her body position and sensory system. Being able to focus and be aware of all this information is a challenging task. Kate  continually modifies exercises and activities to meet Annie's needs and level of ability in a positive and encouraging manner. The focus, body work and confidence that Annie is learning with Kate are skills that she will use throughout her life. We are so very blessed to be working with Kate."

"I was introduced to Kate through Facebook around 2013. Sharing a similar philosophy of riding and horse care, I came to respect her good “horse sense” and sense of horses.

I had recently formed Advanced Equine Studies, video production company to create DVD learning experiences for riders and equine caregivers. As our first program, The Horse’s Respiratory System, was in final edit when I asked Kate to take a look and give me feedback before we wrapped up production. Her comments proved invaluable and we have continued to count on her review for each of our DVDs since then.
Kate understands that good horsemanship is more than learning to ride better—it’s learning to be a better partner for your horse. We create Advanced Equine Studies programming so horse people could have an affordable college-level education that is accessible to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. With this in mind, we offer all of Kate’s students and friends a 10% discount in our online store. Simply enter coupon code ‘Kate’ at checkout at AdvancedEquineStudies.com."
